1. Who we are
This privacy policy explains how CHM Roofing Ltd (“CHM”, “we”, “us”) collects and uses personal information when you visit chmroofing.co.uk, contact us or ask us for a quote. We are the data controller for that information.

We are a small, family-run business and do not have a Data Protection Officer. Questions about this policy can be sent to the contact details above.
2. The information we collect
When you use our quote form we collect the details you enter:
- your name
- your phone number
- your email address (optional)
- your message – what you need help with, which may include your address or details about your property and roof
When you call, email or message us (including through Facebook, Instagram or review sites) we keep the details you give us so we can reply.
If you become a customer we also keep the information needed to carry out and guarantee the work, such as the property address, quotes, invoices, photos and drone survey images of the roof, and records of what was done.
When you visit the website our hosting provider automatically processes basic technical data, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure. We do not use this to identify you.
We do not knowingly collect special category data and ask that you do not include it in your message.
3. How we use it and our lawful basis

We will not use your details for marketing unless you have clearly agreed to it, and we never sell your personal information.
4. Who we share it with
- Netlify, Inc. – hosts this website and processes quote form submissions on our behalf as our data processor. Netlify may use automated spam filtering on form submissions.
- Google (Gmail) – our business email provider; enquiries and form notifications are delivered to our Gmail inbox.
- Our accountant, insurers and, where relevant, the provider of an insurance-backed guarantee, when needed for the work we do for you.
- Authorities such as HMRC where the law requires it.
If you follow a link to Facebook, Instagram, Google or TrustATrader, or leave us a review there, those companies handle your data under their own privacy policies.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers, including Netlify and Google, may process data outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where this happens we rely on the safeguards UK law allows, such as the UK–US “data bridge” for certified companies or the ICO’s International Data Transfer Agreement / Addendum to standard contractual clauses.
6. How long we keep it
- Enquiries and quotes that do not go ahead: kept for up to 2 years from our last contact, then deleted.
- Customer records: kept for as long as needed to honour our workmanship and insurance-backed guarantees (for the length of the guarantee) and to meet tax and accounting rules (normally 6 years after the end of the financial year the work was invoiced in).
- Website technical logs: kept by our hosting provider for a short period in line with its own retention policy.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you (access)
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete
- ask us to delete your information, or to restrict how we use it
- object to us using your information on the basis of legitimate interests
- ask for information you gave us to be transferred to you or another organisation (portability)
- withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it, including for cookies via
